(KNZA)--A new Hiawatha city administrator has been hired.
Mayor Crosby Gernon announced Tuesday the hiring of Michael Nichols, who brings with him more than six years of experience in public administration. Nichols comes to Hiawatha from Camdenton, Missouri where he has served as Assistant City Administrator for five years.
He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Nebraska and a Bachelor of Science from Central Missouri State University.
Nichols was among five candidates interviewed for the position, which came open in late July after the city commission voted to terminate the contract with Lynne Ladner. Mayor Gernon has been serving as acting administrator since that time.
Nichols will begin work December 9th.
Gernon says the commission is pleased to have Nichols join the city, and look forward to a prosperous future with him.
