(KTNC) - A couple changes to the Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer School Student Handbook are likely after the school board heard a presentation from National Honor Society students on Wednesday.
The students asked the board to change sections in the handbook pertaining to hoodies and cell phones.
Superintendent Clint Kimbrough says the handbook approved before the start of the school year prohibited students from wearing hoodies with pouches due to concerns over students’ texting in class and for safety concerns, but he says those aren't big concerns now.
After hearing the presentation, Kimbrough says the principals’ recommended to the board that students be allowed to wear hoodies.
Kimbrough says the board has taken under advisement a request to change the policy regarding cell phone use. The current policy prohibits students from using cell phones during school hours. Kimbrough says they may change the policy to allow high school students to use cell phones after they eat lunch and before they go back to class.
Kimbrough praised the National Honor Society students for their presentation to the board on Wednesday.
