USD 377 Board Members Focus On Finances At Latest Meeting
11/12/2013

(KAIR)--District finances were once again the focus of a board meeting as the members of the USD 377 school board met Monday evening. District Superintendent Steve Wiseman says that the board recently went through an external audit of their finances, and the results of that audit were presented during the meeting by Jim Long from Karlin/Long CPA. Mr. Long gave the district a clean financial bill of health and commended the central office staff for their hard work.

The board also addressed some salary issues for certain district staff members, approving a one time $200 stipend to classified staff. Wiseman says says that when they give those one time stipends, it does not effect the life long earnings of the employee, and it does not carry over into future years, which makes it easier for the board to budget.

In other business, the board  received a report from Jill Thorne, who was representing the elementary school regarding a new PTO fundraiser titled the Fit and Fun Glow Run. A new Board Clerk/Business Manager trainee position for the district was also approved.

The board was meeting for the first time since the proposed $17.5 million bond issue failed last week.
