(KAIR)--A group of concerned Atchison area parents of special needs children are gathering together to raise money to meet an often overlooked need for their kids. Atchison resident Amy Hale is a mother of a child with Aspergers syndrome, and part of a group that is organizing the Spectrum Park 5K/2K Fun run event that she hopes will help raise the needed funds for a much needed play area for these kids.
Hale says that the proposed playground, to be called Spectrum Park, would not only be for the kids.
The Spectrum Park 5K/2K Fun run will take place Saturday morning, with registration starting at 7:00. The event will start at 8:00. Participants will gather at Veterans Memorial Park in Atchison, and the run will take place down River Road.
The entry fee of $30 includes a T shirt.
