(KAIR)--Now that the election has passed and the votes have been counted, residents and board members in Effingham USD 377 are moving on after a $17.5 million bond issue for school improvements was defeated.
District Superintendent Steve Wiseman says that he is disappointed mainly for those who worked so hard to try and get the bond passed. He added that when people put a lot of time and effort into something, you hope good things come out of it. Wiseman also had a lot of praise for those community members, and said he was honored to work with such committed individuals.
Tim Callahan, who spearheaded the vote no campaign against the bond issue, says that he thought more people would turn out for the vote, and that he believes that a new building is not necessarily needed for the district.
