Platte County Encouraging Kids To Be Drug Free

(KAIR)--The Platte county sheriff's office is showing it's dedication to teaching kids about how they can have a drug free life. According to a press release, the sheriff's office will show it's commitment to fight the illegal use of drugs by providing red ribbons to residents and youth organizations in Platte County during the week of October 23-31.

The ribbons will serve as a continuous reminded of Platte County's commitment to keep drugs out of the community.

Platte County Sheriff Mark Owen says that the week has been set aside to encourage kids to be drug free. He further states that kids are less likely to use alcohol and drugs when their role models are clear an consistent in their opposition to drug and alcohol abuse.

The red ribbons were purchased with seized drug money. The Sheriff's office uses this money to promote anti-drug education programs within the county.
