(KAIR)--Fathers of students in Atchison elementary school now have a way to get even more involved with their kids. The school has become involved in a program titled WATCH D.O.G.S., which stands for Dads Of Great Students. According to a press release from the school, the program is the father involvement initiative of the National Center For Fathering, inspired by one father's desire to increase male involvement in his child's school. The program was created in 1998 in Arkansas and has since spread to more than 3,000 schools in the country.
The men involved with this program volunteer to work in their child's school, working alongside the educators to help as car/bus ride facilitators, hallway monitors, and library assistants, among other such duties.
Atchison Elementary WATCH D.O.G.S. Are fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year.
