(KMZA)--Negotiations continue between Highland Community College and Nemaha Central USD 115 for the purchase of the B & B school building.
USD 115 Superintendent Darrel Kohlman informed the board of education this week that he met recently with HCC President David Reist and informed him that the district is asking $500,000 for the Baileyville school building, shop building and parking lot. Kohlman said college officials responded with a counter offer of $300,000.
The USD 115 board approved a counter offer to the college of $400,000.
Kohlman said college officials desire to have a contract in place by the end of the calendar year with a closing date after the school year is complete.
HCC has expressed interest in using the facility for a regional career and technical education center.
The USD 115 board voted in March to close the B & B Junior-Senior High School at the end of the 2013-2014 school year, and send all students to schools in Seneca.
