Auburn School Board Approves New Bleachers and Gym Floor
10/16/2013

(KLZA) -- The Auburn School Board approved the expenditure of approximately $190,000 for renovations of the Auburn High School gymnasium when they met Monday night.  Superintendent Kevin Reiman said after more than a year of planning bids were awarded for the project.

The bleachers and gym floor were both put in new in 1970. The plans are for the replacement project to take place next summer.

The bid for the new gym floor was awarded to Midwest Flooring of Lincoln at a cost of $80,309.  The bid for the new bleachers goes to Heartland Seating for $102,406 and the architect fees of $7,400 were also approved.

Superintendent Reiman says the deck bleachers on top of the north side will be removed.  On the south side there will be fewer bleachers.  There will be a walk-way behind the chairs where players and coaches will sit during games.

The District #29 Board has been saving money for this project for several years.  All of the money for the project will come out of cash reserves and general fund money will not be used for the project.

In other business Board members approved proclamations for Red Ribbon Week and American Education Week.  The Board of Education Self-Evaluation was discussed.

An executive session was held concerning teacher negotiations. No action was taken following the closed session.
