(KLZA) -- Falls City Utility and Fire Department personnel will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the city over the next few weeks to flow test and remove sediment built up in the water mains.
Customers may experience a temporary brownish-red discoloration of their water during the flushing. However, Utility Superintendent Alan Romine says the water discoloration does not pose any health threat and is safe to use.
If you notice the flushing going on in your area, you advised not to use water for a short period of time, so as not to pull discolored water into the service piping. For those who do experience discoloration of water, the Water Department reminds you, not to wash white clothes during this time since the brownish-red materials will stain white cloth.
