(KTNC) - October will again be a busy month at Indian Cave State Park near Shubert. Park officials plan to continue a popular traditional activity and are introducing a new activity this year.
Park Superintendent Kevin Holliday says they will have their 18th annual “Haunted Hollow” hayrack rides on five nights this month – October 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26. A new family event, planned for Friday night, is “Trick-or-Treat at the Town.” Kids can wear their Halloween costume and trick-or-treat through the old town of St. Deroin from 6:30 to 9:00 Friday evening.
Admission to Trick-or-Treat on the Town is $2 per person. The cost for the hayrack rides is $7 for adults and $5 for children age four to 12.
Other Halloween-themed events are planned at the park. Holliday says visitors can try their had at the pumpkin roll each Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Visitors can also paint a ceramic pumpkin, participate in a scavenger hunt, and a decorating contest in the R-V campground. There will also be living history demonstrations at the museum and horseback riding.
People can also enjoy a drive through the park to view the fall foliage. Holliday says the leaves have been slower to turn colors this fall, but should begin changing colors in the next couple of weeks and reach their peak late this month.
