(KAIR)--A Lancaster man, hauling concrete construction equipment, suffers injuries when the tire on the truck he was driving blew out.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened shortly after 5:00 Wednesday evening, six miles south of Atchison, when 35-year-old Jason Myers was northbound on U.S. Highway 73.
Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie says the truck, owned by Bottorff Construction, went out of control when the left front tire blew out. The truck, with trailer attached, crossed into the other lane and then entered the ditch at such a high rate of speed both the truck and trailer overturned.
Myers, buckled up when the crash happened, was freed from the wreckage by another Bottorff employee and transported by Atchison County EMS to the Atchison Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
According to Laurie, Marlatt Construction came to assist at the scene, joining Bottorfff Construction in removing the truck, trailer and damaged equipment, incluidng what's identified as a laser screed.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
