(KNZA)--Financial exploitation of older adults will be the focus Thursday in Holton.
Coordinated by the Topeka-based not for profit Mainstream, Inc., in conjunction with the Kansas Attorney General's office, the session will pick up where similar sessions, held last spring, left off.
Mainstream Executive Director Herb Callison says this latest session, based on input received from those who attended, will focus on scam prevention. That includes providing the proper wording on how to respond to an unsolicited telephone call seeking financial information.
Callison says experts in financial fraud will head up Thursday morning's presentation, including Matt Taylor, representing Denison State Bank, and Travis Harrod, Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division.
Callison says the informational session will benefit seniors, caregivers, financial institution employees, law enforcement, and many others, and is free to attend.
That's made possible through a federal PEANE grant.
Preventing Financial Abuse and Exploitation of Older Adults will run from 10:00 until 12 noon Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Holton.
Registration with refreshments begins at 9:30.
