(KNZA )--A grant is to be sought for renovation of Troy Library, and community support is needed.
The Doniphan County Library District #1 board of trustees has been working to renovate the Troy Branch. A fundraising drive has been going on for several years, and now they have a one time opportunity for a Community Development Block Grant, which the city of Troy has agreed to sponsor for them.
Board President Joan Oyerly says the grant, along with the donations, will allow them to complete renovations in one large project without raising taxes.
Oyerly says the grant would supply money for materials and
the “ experts”’, but the library has to supply the labor force. She says they need at least 20 committed individuals who are skilled or have some construction experience.
A community meeting on the grant will held Tuesday evening at 6:30 at the Troy Branch Library, and Oyerly says they need a large showing of community support in order to be considered for the grant approval process.
The grant will be applied for next month, and if awarded, construction is expected to begin in January.
