(KLZA) -- The Humboldt-Table Rock – Steinauer School Board approved a budget of just under seven million dollars when they met this week.
Superintendent Clint Kimbrough said the levy amount went down a little bit due to an increase in valuation in the school district. The levy was set at just over 82 cents per $100 of assessed valuation for the general fund, and will include an additional nickel for the building fund. Depending on where you live in the HTRS district your levy may also include some assessment for previous bond issues still being paid off.
In other business, there was discussion on improvements to the buildings in Humboldt and Table Rock with a number of patrons on hand to hear if there was any discussion about purchasing the building in Stella that formerly housed the Southeast Consolidated School. Superintendent Kimbrough said there were good comments about the facilities currently utilized in Humboldt and Table Rock.The Board did meet in executive session to discuss the possible purchase of a property adjacent to the building in Humboldt that is up for sale. No action was taken following the closed session.
Superintendent Kimbrough reported he has met with officials from several area schools concerning their Future Farmers of American program and how an FFA program might be shared in the future.
The HTRS Board also approved continuing with a robotics program and it will also be a high school program now. There is a cost of around $10,000 to partner with the LEGO company for the robotics program.
Superintendent Kimbrough said a number of projects were also approved including a fencing project at Power Field in Humboldt, replacing the roof on an addition at the school in Humboldt and an exterior brick project to be started in the spring.
