(KNZA)--More than 1,000 Westar Energy customers in Hiawatha and surrounding areas lost power for about 2 ½ hours late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning .
Westar Energy spokeswoman Gina Pinzig says the outage was reported around 10:45 Wednesday night, with service restored around 1:15 Thursday morning.
She said the outage affected customers in the west part of Hiawatha and into the towns of Reserve and Hamlin.
Pinzig the outage was due to a piece of equipment that needed to be repaired on one of their lines.
