(KLZA) - Tom Carlson, one of two announced Republican candidates for Governor in Nebraska made a stop in Falls City last week.
Carlson, from Holdrege, is wrapping up his second term in the Nebraska Legislature. He currently is Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee and previously served four years as Chair of the Agriculture Committee.
One of the big issues the legislature expects to deal with in the next session is taxes. Carlson said Nebraska needs competitive and fair taxation.
When asked for his thoughts on eliminating income taxes, Carlson said he believes income taxes are a fair tax. He said it is good to study the states tax policy, but noted that fair and competitive taxes usually work against one another.
Carlson lists job creation in the private sector, education, good roads and bridges for a strong commerce and sound management water, what he calls the states most precious resource as priority issues for his campaign.
