Deadline to Apply for BMP Funds September 1st
Landowners in the Delaware River Watershed have until September 1, 2013 to participate in the Best Management Practice Auction. The Auction is could be a good source of funding assistance for eligible practices at a time when such funding is hard to come by.
A BMP Auction operates like a reverse auction where landowners offer (or bid) to install a BMP for a price. Successful bidders can receive up to 70% cost-share ($7,500 maximum) for eligible practices.
All bids must be received by the Sept. 1 deadline. Bid are evaluated and approved, based on water quality benefits received per dollar spent. Funding is granted to the most efficient practices that will be installed in targeted areas of the watershed.
Anyone interested in participating in the Auction can download an application from the Delaware River WRAPS website (www.delawarewraps.com). Applications are also available at Extension and Conservation District offices in Atchison, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson or Nemaha counties, at the Glacial Hills RC&D office in Wetmore, KS, or by calling 785-284-3422
