(KNZA)--A traffic stop near the Jackson County community of Hoyt leads to the recovery of a stolen vehicle, and lands two suspects in jail.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says it happened around 11:00 Thursday night when deputies stopped a silver 1992 Cadillac which had a Missouri license plate. They soon learned that the car had been earlier stolen from North Kansas City, Missouri, and that led to the arrest of the driver, 39-year-old Topeka resident Jason Bell, for possession of stolen property.
A 29-year-old passenger, Katherine Riley, of Topeka, was arrested on a Shawnee County District Court warrant for failure to appear.
Morse says identification cards, credit cards, and check books not belonging to Bell or Riley were found inside the stolen car.
The investigation is continuing.
