(KNZA)--A special presentation in the Jackson County community of Netawaka Friday evening, with Rural Fire District #6 recognized by one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers.
In attendance at the ceremony were representatives of FM Global who presented an award to Fire Chief Jon Edwards, along with other firefighters at the Netawaka Fire Station.
FM Global is partnering with the department in order to see that Netawaka residents are safely equipped with smoke alarms.
According to the company, they have contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants worldwide for 35 years, based on the fact that fire continues to be the leading cause of property damage worldwide.
The award for Rural Fire District #6 was made through FM Global as part of the company’s Fire Prevention Grant Program.
Anyone in the Netawaka area in need of a smoke alarm should contact the fire department at (785) 933-2666.
