(KNZA)--Hiawatha Mayor Crosby Gernon will serve as City Administrator as the search is launched to permanently fill the position.
That decision came during Monday evening’s meeting of the Hiawatha City Commission, with Gernon unanimously selected to serve in the position on an interim basis. Commissioners additionally voted to keep the Administrator’s spending limit of $5,000, without Commission approval, the same.
The vacancy was created following the Commission’s decision to terminate seven year Administrator Lynne Ladner’s contract on July 29th without cause. Under the terms of the contract, Ladner is entitled to 90 days of pay at her existing wage of $70,000 per year.
