(KAIR)-The “Stop Government Abuse Act,” introduced by Republican United States Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins, passes the house.
The Congresswoman, from Kansas, took to the House Floor prior to Thursday's 239-176 vote, to push for the legislation.
The bill is a merger of three Republican proposals that arose after the IRS placed Lois Lerner, director of the agency's tax-exempt organizations division, on admistrative leave in May. That came after Lerner admitted that IRS employees had improperly screened applications from organizations, including those with Tea Party or Patriot in their names, seeking tax-exempt status:k
The bill would also give United States citizens the right to record telephone, or in person meetings, with most federal employees, regardless of a state's wiretapping laws.
Additionally, those employees would be required to tells citizens of their right to record.
