(KNZA)--The Board of Education for the South Brown County Schools held a special meeting Monday night, with the session focused on the budget for the 2013-2014 school year.
By the time it came to an end, a budget was approved, bearing a slightly decreased mil levy rate from last year.
The leaders of the Horton based USD 430, prior to approval, listened as Superintendent Steve Davies provided an in-depth review of all areas of the budget.
Once that was concluded, the School Board voted to approve the budget, as presented, for publication. In the absence of School Board President Tim McClaskey, Vice president Gregg Dishon called the vote.
Now, a pubic hearing regarding the budget is set for the evening of August 12th, at 6:00, just prior to the regular School Board meeting.
With all funds totaled, the budget for the fast approaching new school year stands at 11-million, 752-thousand, 398-dollars, and carries a mil levy of 59.667.
Last year, the mill levy was approved at 59.893.
