Richardson County Board of Equalization Changes Valuation in Portion of Falls City
(KLZA) Richardson County Commissioners reconvened as a Board of Equalization Tuesday and wrapped up the hearings on 249 property valuation protests filed this year.
Earlier this summer property owners that had valuation changes on their property received notice of the changes from the Richardson County Assessors office. It had been more than a dozen years since properties in Falls City had been reassessed.
When the valuation changes were sent out it sparked the large amount of protests. The new valuations in the county totaled 27.5 million dollars. After the protests were heard and the Board of Equalization ordered a change in the KE Morehead addition in the northwest section of Falls City, the total increase will be $25-million.
35 notices were sent to property owners in the Morehead addition that did not file protests, informing them the valuations on their properties that had increased more than 3.76-million dollars were reduced more than $372,000 leaving an increase of $3,389,117 on those properties.
Land valuations for those filing protests in the Morehead addition were also reduced following the protests.
