( KNZA )--A one-million dollar Community Development Block Grant will be sought for a regional water improvement system in Doniphan County.
A hearing was held at Monday’s Doniphan County Commission meeting on the grant application through the Kansas Department of Commerce, with no public comment received.
The project will consist of an interconnection between Doniphan Rural Water District #6 and the city of Highland; new distribution system for Doniphan Rural Water District #1-Leona and connecting to Rural Water District #6.
The estimated project cost is $5.3 million.
The commission agreed to send out a request for proposals to hire a grant administrator to assist the county in applying for the grant funds for the project.
