Bail Hearing For Convicted Murderer Set

(KAIR)--A motion for release on bail is filed, and a hearing date now set, in connection with the case of a convicted Atchison County murderer whose conviction was overturned in May.

The legal counsel for Kirk Wilson filed the motion on Friday.

The hearing on the matter is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 in Atchison County District Court.

Wilson was convicted of first degree murder in 2001 and sentenced to life in prison without parole for 25 years in connection with the March 2000 death of Kurt Boldridge.

However, Atchison County District Court Judge Robert Bednar overturned the conviction on constitutional grounds, saying Wilson was denied the right to a fair trial.

The Kansas Attorney General's Office, acting as special prosecution in the case, is expected to oppose Wilson's release and appeal the Judge's ruling.
