(KTNC) - A grand opening ceremony was held at a new Falls City business Wednesday. Stephanie’s Epic Cakes, at 1712 Stone Street, opened on June 8th and has been doing a brisk business, selling cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and other desserts.
The business’ owner, Stephanie Wendtlandt, received some help getting the business going from a new program of the Southeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership. It’s called the Individual Development Account, or I-D-A, program, and it provides financial assistance for people looking to start a business. SENCA Executive Director Vicky McNealy explains. Wendtlandt is the first person to enroll in the program, and McNealy says they have one other person enrolled in Otoe County, and are looking to expand it. (play audio :35)
