(KLZA) Former Speaker of the Nebraska Legislature Mike Flood announced Monday in his hometown newspaper, the Norfolk Daily News that he will not re-enter the 2014 gubernatorial race in Nebraska.
In December, shortly after announcing he would run for Governor, Flood withdrew from the race when his wife Mandi was diagnosed with breast cancer.
During a news conference Monday Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman commented on Floods decision. ( play audio :48 seconds )
In a related note, according to an article in the Lincoln Journal Star, Falls City businessman Charles Herbster is likely to throw his hat into the ring for the Republican nomination for Governor.
State Senator Charlie Janssen of Freemont is actively campaigning and a number of other candidates are also considering entering the race to replace Governor Dave Heineman.
