(KAIR)--Rural Atchison County volunteer fire departments late Saturday night rush to the scene of what's described as a massive blaze at a home, located on property north of the Atchison city limits, along K-7 Highway, near Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Shannon Township, Mount Pleasant and Lancaster all responded to the fire, reported shortly before 11:30, with the home found to be engulfed in flames.
The battle with the blaze lasted for close to three hours, with Mount Pleasant and Lancaster firefighters departing the scene around 2:15 Sunday morning while crews from Shannon Township remained behind in case of any possible flare ups.
The home is owned by Ron Teare, and apparently occupied by his relatives.
However, authorities say no one was home when the fire began, and no injuries are reported.
The home incurred major damage and the cause is not yet determined.
Investigators plan to continue the investigation at the site on Sunday.
