(KAIR) -- The Platte County Sheriff’s Office may conduct sobriety checkpoints at various locations within Platte County during the month of July.
The checkpoints are aimed at reducing the number of intoxicated driver related crashes, which occur on roadways.
The checkpoint will involve briefly stopping traffic for the purpose of checking for intoxicated drivers.
Intoxicated drivers will be arrested. Others will be allowed to proceed after a short delay.
Since April 2013, 19 DWI arrests have been made at three sobriety checkpoints held by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff encourages all area motorists to report drunk drivers to the Platte County Sheriff’s Department by calling (816) 858-3521, or dial 911.
