$25,000 Matching Grant Announced for Brownville Community Foundation

(KLZA) The Brownville Community Foundation has announced that Lee Sapp, has issued a $25,000 challenge grant to be matched by donations from the community.

As an ambassador of the Foundation, Mr. Sapp expressed an interest in helping Brownville, Nemaha County and Southeast Nebraska. In September 2012, Governor Dave Heineman visited Brownville at Mr. Sapp’s invitation to explore the availability of state monies. At that time, Sapp suggested the $25,000 challenge grant. In April 2013, the grant was initiated and a number of community individuals have already stepped forward with $7,000 in matching monies.

The purpose of the Brownville Community Foundation is to facilitate the charitable interests of donors that will help enhance the historical, cultural, environmental, educational and recreational objectives of the Brownville community. Currently, the Brownville Community Endowment Fund contains over $13,000. If this challenge is successful, it will bring that total to over $63,000.00. Annually and in perpetuity, 4.5% of that amount will be made available to the community in the form of grants.
