(KMZA)--An area business that began operations in 1954 is closing down and saying goodbye.
According to the Sabetha Herald, the doors of Sabetha's Brockhoff Manufacturing, Inc., will remain open for supplies, but the manufacturing equipment will be sold at auction.
The closure follows the retirement of Paul Fritz, longtime employee of the company who, although retired, returned to the company following the death of owner Roger Brockhoff in April pf last year. He died due to extensive injuries received during an explosion at Brockhoff Manufacturing.
It was his father, Howard, who started the business on his farm, located northeast of Fairview, in 1954, but moved the operations to Fairview in 1958. Two years later, he again decided to move, taking the business to Sabetha.
