Local Students Earn Top FFA Honor

(KNZA)--Special honors for 24 students from the Northeast District FFA, awarded their State FFA Degree during the 85th Kansas FFA State Convention. 

The degree is the highest honor the organization can bestow on members, and is achieved only if the following requirements are met: have received their Chapter FFA Degree, been an FFA member and agricultural education student for at least two years, earned at least $2,000 or worked 600 hours in their Supervised Agricultural Experience program, given a six minute speech about agriculture or FFA, participated in eight different leadership activities, received a “C” average or better in high school and shown a record of outstanding leadership and community involvement.

The members who met the qualifications, and their respective FFA Chapters from the Northeast District, are: from Axtell: Michael Carpenter, Winsten James Mathewson, Audrey Schmitz, Bridgett Volle, Paige Jennae Werner; Doniphan West: Samantha Albers, Ian C.K. Bollinger, BreAnne Caudle, Trevor Fee, Derrick Hughes, Laura Rush, Koby Scholz; Hiawatha: Marshall Swearingen; Holton: Elizabeth Nicole Allen, Darien Klahr; Jackson Heights: Cody James Holliday; Marysville: Mitchell Drey, Anthony Bruna, Brandon Griffee, Martin Howard, Cody Ketter; Rock Creek: Annette Trieb; Sabetha: Brandi A. McCoy, Emily Meeks; Valley Heights: Michael Clark.
