( KNZA )--A Holton man was seriously injured Friday morning when the skid steer loader he was operating was struck by a van on a Jackson County road, north of Holton.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 61-year-old Cheryl Karns of Holton was traveling east on 214 Road and coming over a hill when she struck the loader in the side. The Patrol says 48-year-old Roger Chartier was hooking up an attachment at the time. Chartier was transported to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka with disabling injuries. Karns refused treatment at the scene.
The accident was reported shortly after 8:30 Friday morning at the intersection with Q Road.
