( KMZA )--A member of the Axtell FFA Chapter has been recognized for having one of the best agricultural career experience programs in the state.
Audrey Schmitz received a State FFA Proficiency Award in Dairy Production Entrepreneurship Thursday during the 85th Kansas FFA Convention in Manhattan for outstanding accomplishments she has made in developing programs that will prepare her for a career in agriculture. This award is sponsored by the Kansas Farmer Magazine.
The proficiency award program recognizes students for exceptional accomplishments and excellence in a Supervised Agricultural Experience program. This program allows students to set goals and gain real-world experience in a chosen area of the agriculture industry.
Schmitz grew up raising Holstein and Jersey cows on her family’s dairy operation. She now owns 10 milk cows, 14 replacement heifers and three bulls. She helps manage all aspects of the dairy operation.
After high school, she plans to attend Kansas State University and pursue degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Communication and Journalism.
Schmitz is the daughter of Joseph and Amy Schmitz. Her chapter advisor is Kristen Stratham
