( KMZA )--Governor Sam Brownback and U.S. Senator Jerry Moran were in Marshall County Wednesday to tour the damage caused by Monday night’s tornado west of Marysville.
Moran toured the area Wednesday morning and Brownback arrived by helicopter in the afternoon to survey the damage.
Both were escorted by Marshall County emergency officials, who showed them the worst-hit parts of the tornado’s eight-mile path.
The EF2 tornado, with wind speeds up to 135 miles an hour, damaged businesses, homes and outbuildings. No injuries were reported.
Moran said the damage wasn’t enough to qualify for help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, but the total storm damage across northeast Kansas this week may be enough to qualify.
Brownback reminded those at each stop to let the state know if any help was needed.
Also on hand was Jackie Miller, regional emergency management coordinator with the Kansas Department of Emergency Management in Topeka.
