Flood Warnings Continue for Area Rivers
05/29/2013

(KTNC) -  Flood warnings continue for area rivers even as more severe weather is possible today (Wednesday).
The Missouri River at Rulo was at 17.7-feet Tuesday night.  Flood stage is 17-feet.  The forecast calls for the river to rise to just over 19-feet by early Friday morning and fall below flood stage Sunday morning.  Minor flooding is forecast.
Minor flooding is also forecast for the Missouri River at Brownville, where the flood stage is 33-feet.  The river at Brownville was at 30.7-feet late Tuesday night, with the river expected to rise to near 36.2-feet by Thursday evening and fall below flood stage by Sunday afternoon.
A flood warning also continues for the Tarkio River at Fairfax until Thursday afternoon.  At 4:15 Wednesday morning, the river was at 23.5-feet.  Flood stage is 17-feet.  The river is expected to crest at 23.8-feet this (Wednesday) morning and fall below flood stage late this afternoon.
Motorists are reminded to not drive through areas where water covers the road, as the water depth may be too great to allow a vehicle to pass safely.  As little as six-inches of water can cause one to lose control of a vehicle and two-feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
