(KTNC) - The trial for a DuBois man accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his elderly uncle began Tuesday in Pawnee County District Court.
Lewis Rakosnik faces 39 charges, including 33 counts of felony abuse of a vulnerable adult, two counts of attempted abuse of a vulnerable adult, and four misdemeanor counts of attempted felony abuse.
Authorities say Rakosnik stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from his elderly uncle over an 11-month period. He was arrested in January 2012 following a five-month Nebraska State Patrol investigation.
A jury was selected Tuesday morning and jurors began hearing evidence Tuesday afternoon.
The trial is scheduled to last for three days in Pawnee County District Court.
