(KTNC) - A sure sign of spring, the annual flower show and display, is coming up later this month in Humboldt. The 2013 flower show will be held Thursday, May 16th, at the Ag Building in Humboldt.
Phyllis Williamson is a co-chair of the event. She says it will be an all-day affair. (play audio :43)
There will also be displays from Grimm’s Gardens and the Bruun Memorial Library, and people are encouraged to bring and share a short story about “grandma’s sewing basket.”
Flowers can be entered in three sections – arrangements, houseplants, and horticulture.
This is the 53rd year for the flower show. The flower of the year is the Gerbera (gurr-burr-uh) Daisy, which Williamson says can brighten any garden. (play audio :30)
While the recent weather has not been ideal for flowers, Williamson says they still hope to have a lot of entries in this year’s show. (play audio :11)
For more information about the Flower Show, you may contact Williamson, or co-chairpersons Carol Bierman, Jeanne Standerford, or June Hayward.
