(KMZA)--Seven cows and one bull are found dead in a Nemaha County Pasture; and authorities are blaming a bucket containing a lethal chemical, apparently dumped out at the site as the reason behind the deaths.
Nemaha County Sheriff Rich Vernon says the cattle apparently consumed the chemical, dumped near 184th Road and K-63, and died.
Vernon says it's not believed the hazardous chemical was thrown out with the intention of causing harm, but was merely illegally disposed of. He calls the illegal dumping “reckless,” saying that the chemical has the potential of causing great harm to humans, and is actively seeking whoever is responsible.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office, in Seneca, in order to assist with the investigation.
The estimated monetary loss, accompanying the death of the cattle, is $10,000.
