( KNZA )-- A Hiawatha man convicted of aggravated battery in a child abuse case has been placed on probation.
32-year-old Corey Spangler was sentenced Monday in Brown County District Court to 13 months in prison on the charge. However, the sentence was suspended and he was placed on 24 months supervised probation.
Spangler pleaded no contest in February to the amended charge of aggravated battery. He had originally been charged with abuse of a child.
Spangler was arrested last November following an investigation by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department after reports were received from medical and school personnel involving a 5-year-old Hiawatha boy.
