(KLZA)- A Falls City man has been fined $500 and given a year of probation for the death of an Ohio man in 2011 traffic accident.
36-year-old Steven Darveau Jr. also was ordered to complete 120 hours of community service. He was sentenced on Tuesday in Richardson County District Court.
Darveau had pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vehicular homicide after prosecutors lowered the felony manslaughter charge.
Prosecutors say that on Aug. 5, 2011, Darveau made a left turn in front of a motorcycle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 73 and South 703 Loop, three miles south of Falls City.
The motorcyclist, 64-year-old Edward Packard, of Cleves, Ohio, died at the scene.
