Fire Prevention Week Underway
10/08/2012

(KNZA)--“Have Two Ways Out.”  That's the theme of Fire Prevention Week, now underway, as proclaimed by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback.

The key to the week is creating, and practicing, a fire escape plan in the home, in order to be ready should a fire break out.

According to the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association, those with such a plan in place are more likely to survive a fire.

In 2010, 26-hundred people nationwide died in fires, with more than 369-thousand home fires reported that same year.

Fire Prevention Week runs through October 13th.
