(KNZA)--He's becoming a familiar face on the campaign trail, traveling to area parades and speaking at senior citizen centers, despite his loss in the August primary election in the race for Jackson County Sheriff.

He is Bob McNicholas, who took 15 percent of the vote on the Republican ticket, falling to both candidate Cory Shields and the race winner, Jim Honn.

Nonetheless, McNicholas is not discouraged, planning to run a write-in campaign in the November general election(Play Audio)

McNicholas says state voting laws make running as a write-in candidate simpler than it was in the past, and that gives him encouragement(Play Audio)

By running a write-in campaign, McNicholas will not have his name on the ballot, but voters can add him as he challenges Republican Jim Honn and Democrat Tim Morse, who currently serves as Jackson County Sheriff.
