( KNZA )-A discontinued police chase in Leavenworth Saturday morning ended with a two-vehicle accident, sending three people to the hospital.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 16-year-old Jadon Orr of Overland Park was traveling west on Kiowa Street in a 1999 Dodge car being pursed by Leavenworth Police.
The pursuit was discontinued, but the Patrol says Orr continued to drive erratically and struck a southbound 2008 Chrysler van on 10th Street driven by 34-year-old Ralf Bruning of Leavenworth.
The Patrol says Orr, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his vehicle. Orr was transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City with disabling injuries.
Bruning and a passenger in his van, 35-year-old Tafu Bruning of Leavenworth, were taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
A 10-year-old child in the van received minor injuries, but wasn't transported to a hospital. Two other children in the van , ages 3 and 9, weren't hurt.
The accident was reported shortly after 10:30 Saturday morning.
