08/22/2012

( KNZA )--Northeast Kansas Multi-County Health is seeking a $17,000 increase in funding  from Jackson County for 2013.

Jackson County Health Nurse Angie Reith and Northeast Kansas Multi-County Health representative Cynthia Cluck met with Jackson County Commissioners Monday to discuss their 2013 budget proposal of $67,310.  Last year, the agency received $50,700 from Jackson County.

Cluck said several positions were cut this year as a cost-savings measure.

The Multi-County Health Department serves Atchison, Brown and Jackson Counties.

The commission took the funding request under consideration.

At the request of the county's fire chiefs, the commission voted to extend the burn ban one more week.  It will be reviewed again next week.

Banner Creek Manager Larry Holliday presented bids for the concrete work for the bathhouse on the south side of Banner Lake.

The commission agreed to go with the low bid of $15,153 submitted by Eisenbarth Construction of Holton provided he has time in his schedule to complete the project.

The bid was among two received.
