( KNZA )-- The Kansas Department of Transportation says a repair project on four U.S. 36 bridges in Brown County near Hiawatha was completed Thursday and the bridges reopened to traffic ahead of the scheduled completion date.

Work on the project began June 11th.

Repair work was done on the approaches on both ends of all four bridges

Bridges Inc. of Newton was the primary contractor on the more than $385,000 project.

The project was funded by T-WORKS, the transportation program passed by the Kansas Legislature in May 2010.
