(KLZA) The Falls City Volunteer Fire Department was called to Falls City Grain Elevator on West 7th Street about 8:45 a-m Wednesday morning.
A semi-truck owned by Richard Rowland was pulling onto the scale when the driver noticed a fire in the engine compartment. The truck was pulled off to the side and before the fire department could respond the fire had spread from the engine compartment to the cab of the truck.
Firemen extinguished the fire but estimated the tractor portion of the truck to be a total loss. There was no damage to the trailer behind the semi-tractor.
