( KNZA )--A former Elwood City official convicted of misusing public funds and making a false report has been placed on probation.
Former deputy city clerk Leanna Bell was given a 14-month suspended prison sentence Wednesday in Doniphan County District Court and placed on probation for 18 months.
As a condition of her probation, Bell must serve 30 days in the Doniphan County Jail and pay more than 57-hundred dollars in restitution to the city of Elwood.
Bell pleaded no contest in July to the charges, which accuse her of keeping money received from court fines and citations.
According to court documents, the offenses occurred between January 2009 and December 2010. Bell was fired in December 2010.
