( KNZA )-A Goff teen was injured early Saturday morning when he crashed his motorcycle while being pursued by a Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 16-year-old Caleb Hill was traveling north on K-9 on the east side of Netawaka when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a utility pole shortly before 1 a.m.
Hill, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from his motorcycle.
Hill was transported to the Holton Community Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse said the pursuit began when a deputy attempted to stop Hill for allegedly driving reckless in the Netawaka area.
Morse says the deputy used emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop him,  but he failed to yield to the deputy’s warning and fled at a high rate of speed.
The deputy later discovered he had wrecked his motorcycle.
Morse says the investigation continues into whether the incident was alcohol related.
